Ignaux sits between three ski areas. Alpine skiing on one side, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the other: you will find your day in the snow less than a quarter of an hour away.

Created in December 1955, 8 km from Ax-les-Thermes, this is the main resort in the area: if you ski for several days, it is probably the one you will go to first. The Andorran border is about thirty kilometres away, so you can slip in a day at Grandvalira during the week.
See AndorraThe resort first opened in the winter of 1965. Above it, the Port de Pailhères rises to 2,001 m, a pass that the Tour de France first took in 2003. Another way to vary your ski days without skiing the same area twice.
About ten minutes away, Le Chioula is the place for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Further on, the Plateau de Beille (opened in 1989, between 1,800 and 2,000 m) offers cross-country trails, about 42 km of snowshoe routes, a biathlon stadium and a husky sledding school.

In Ax-les-Thermes, the Bassin des Ladres is a hot thermal footbath right in the town centre: you dip your feet in after a day in the cold, with the church in the background. The town also has restaurants, a cinema, a casino and hot water-play baths.
And if you would rather stay warm indoors: the kitchen is equipped, and there is even a raclette machine.

For Alpine skiing, Ax 3 Domaines is the larger of the two nearby resorts, with cable car access about 10 minutes away. Ascou-Pailhères is about 15 minutes away. For cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, Le Chioula is about 10 minutes away.
